Meet the Artistic Director

Anna Goldsworthy performs regularly as piano soloist and chamber musician. Solo appearances include at the Buenos Aires International Music Festival, the Melbourne International Arts Festival, for the Orchestra of Colours in Athens, and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra's Masters Series. Anna's CD recordings, Piano Lessons and Come With Us, are with the ABC Classics label.

Anna is a founding member of Seraphim Trio, which has performed throughout Asia and Europe, and appears regularly in Australia for Musica Viva. The trio was awarded the prizes for Leading Piano Trio and Audience Choice in the 2001 National Chamber Music Competition.

Anna began studies at age nine with Eleonora Sivan, who has remained a central guide and inspiration. In recent years, Ronald Farren-Price has also been an important mentor. In 2004, she graduated from the University of Melbourne with the degree Doctor of Musical Arts. Additionally, Anna has studied in Moscow with Lev Naumov, with the support of an ArtsSA Emerging Artist Award.

Anna teaches piano at the University of Melbourne, and is Artist-in-Residence at Janet Clarke Hall. Her writing has appeared in Best Australian Essays, The Monthly, The Australian, The Australian Book Review and The Australian Literary Review. Her memoir, Piano Lessons, was released by Black Inc in October 2009, and in the United States in 2010 by St Martin's Press. Anna won Newcomer of the Year in the 2010 Australian Book Industry Awards and Piano Lessons was shortlisted for the NSW Premier's Literary Awards.
